While ginger is grown in most Indian states, Karnataka, Odisha, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, and Gujarat together account for nearly 65% of the nation’s total production. In 2020–21, India produced approximately 1.8 million metric tons of ginger, with Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, and Assam leading the charts. Northeastern states like Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh also contribute significantly. Notably, India stands as the world’s largest exporter of dry ginger, solidifying its global dominance in this aromatic spice.
